I have loved pregnancy and birth for as long as I can remember! I recall, at 6 years old, being disappointed that my mother would not let me come to the hospital when my baby brother was born.
By the time I was 12 years old, and had the 'birds and the bees' talk, I was absolutely fascinated with how everything worked. I read every book, article and medical journal I could get my hands on. Every science or biology related school project I did ended up being about birth. When I was 19, I attended my first birth as support for my sister. After that experience, I began exploring the different birth related professions. After doing my homework, I landed on midwife. Then, life happened. I got married, had my babies, and now, at 29, I am finally ready to start on my path!
My 2 girls are not school age, so me attending college is not yet an option, but I wanted to stay as involved as possible with birth. So I took the amazing doula workshop with Birthingway College of Midwifery, completed my practicum, and am now a DONA certified doula!
